Ode to my LTD.

Me and my 1968 Ford LTD
Goodbye to my 1968 Ford LTD. After 6 months on the market it is not going to the great chopping block in the sky, but suprisingly to New Zealand!
Apparently old classic cars are next to impossible to get over there, so there is a guy that buys them here, pays $3,000 (per car!)to get them shipped over in containers on boats, then pays all of the import taxes, before restoring them completely and selling them for an incredibly high mark up. Who knew?
I’m happy that the car is going to someone who will take care of the car and not crash it.. (like the parents who were looking to buy the LTD for their 16 year old son!) And I know that it is an inanimate object, but I still ended up crying when the import buyer drove my old car away. I’m silly I know. It was my first car that was my own… (ok, technically I owned 1/4th of it, while Devon owned the other 3/4ths, but still… I owned the 1/4th with the steering wheel and gas pedals.) It got me around Seattle for the last 3 years, and I’m sad to see it go.
I had wanted to Photoshop a picture of the LTD in front of Mount Doom from Lord of the Rings, but unfortunately my Photoshoping skills are severely lacking. Oh well. It’s the thought that counts.
Have fun in New Zealand, LTD. I hope you kick some ass in street races over there!

Poor car…I will miss her. Visiting just won’t be the same without our 10 minute bonding sessions before we can actually drive anywhere as the car is warming up or when she would sometimes stall out in the middle of major intersections. So sad. :(

I will however point out that when Emma first laid claim to her 1/4, she picked the backseat passenger side or something like that (she liked it for some reason – maybe you remember Em.) It was me who pointed out that as long as she owned the quarter with the pedals and steering wheel, Devon could do whatever the heck he wanted with his 75% but he wasn’t gonna get anywhere! :) Does that make me smart or tricky? Make Emma sentimental or not so bright? :) heehee j/k

It was originally the front passenger section, but after some renegotiations I got the front driver’s section. :)

Very cool about the car going all the way to New Zealand! :)

I agree, MB. Although, it hardly seems fair that my car will go to New Zealand before I get a chance to visit that country. :)

Tell it to send you a postcard. :)

(Or stow away in the trunk!)

That is a good idea MB! I don’t know if you have ever seen the LTD’s trunk, but it is a mobster’s dream! You can totally fit 4 bodies in there…comfortably! We could all stow away and take a New Zealand vacation! :)

    Ode to a Dear Friend

Farewell old friend, to you downunder
Forever roar and growl like thunder.
Your head of black and endless box pale yellow,
Live long with dwarves and elves my fellow.

  9. Emma says:

haha! Did you write that yourself?

  10. Te1gator1 says:

C’est moi! Just a little something to pull you out of the doldrums… ;-)
