So since January I’ve been going to the gym 4 or 5 times a week, doing 20-30 mins of cardio with lots of crunches and strength training on my arms, legs and abs. I thought I was getting buff and relatively near being in shape.
I recently changed my type of membership and I was given a free session with a personal trainer. That was scheduled on last tuesday, 2 days ago. My trainer, Cortez, focused on my arms as he kicked my ass, then yelled at me for not eatting breakfast, and then continued to kick my ass for the rest of the hour. I got a great workout, even if he did make me cry.
Yesterday my arms were really sore. Really sore, meaning I had to get Devon to hook my bra when I got dressed that morning. Also unsnapping the toothpaste cap was a massive undertaking. I ended up popping some Advil and my sore muscles eventually were just an annoyance in the back of my mind.
I wake up this morning…. 2 days after my work out – and I’ve definately more sore than I was yesterday. I know that the pain will start to fade tomorrow, but my body has just felt so busted for over 48 hours. And the Advil isnt helping today. Neither is drinking lots of water, or stretching. 8 pound Fifi feels like she weighs 70 pounds, spreading jam on bread feels like a major victory and any arm movement in general causes searing pain. I just want to curl up in a little ball.
Hence this post full of self pity. Rahr!
Do you want me to fly out and kick Cortez’s ass? Cuz I will. Those Bally’s people totally looked like they were cruisin’ for a bruisin’ when I went with you last month!!
Hehe. Normally I would say yes, but I think Cortez has possibly done hard time, so it might be a little dangerous.
You’re so super tough baby!
Well if it will make you feel any better, we can comisserate in our pain because my eye went all wacko again and swelled to the size of an egg. Woohoo!! So I guess it wasn’t your cooking. heehee. Good news is that my health insurance has gone through since I visited…hehehehe.
Aww.. Poor chicky. But hey, at least you got a killer workout, no? Imagine how buff you’d be if that guy worked with you every day. Jeez. I’d be scared of you! You’d be able to twirl D. around your head like a crazy circus wrestler.
Kristin – You totally need to go to the doctor this time!!!
go health insurance!
MB – I did get a great workout, but i’m not sure that he understood that i wanted to slim down and tone up, instead of bulk up on massive muscle mass. I think Devon’s already scared of my big arm muscles, although i havnt been able to flex them in 3 days.
Emma, was it tons of sets of tons of reps with small weights, or was it tons of sets of very few reps with huge weights?
If it was just tons of sets with tons of reps and small weights, I believe that’s just for the toning. And it can still kill if you’re not used to it.
Bet you’re totally hot.
it was tons of sets and reps with small weights… so maybe he wasnt crazy after all. I’m in process of getting uber hot.
Plus the soreness is going away. yeay!
