The Olympic Peninsula

On Thursday, Devon and I took the ferry over to Kingston on Bainbridge Island and drove over to La Push on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula and Pacific Ocean.

It was about a 4 hour drive each way and we detoured to Port Townsend on the way out and back for meals. We also stopped at Lake Crescent, which is the large lake below Joyce on the map. It was a dark and cloudy day, but it was still amazingly beautiful over there. I think the water in Crescent lake is the clearest I’ve ever seen.

Logging is the big… or rather only industry over there and it was a little sad to see. It seems like the loggers now replant the land that they take from, but its still a bit eerie to see huge plots of land with no trees taller than me that are bordered on all sides by massive evergreens.

Anyways. The national parks were beautiful and I definately want to go back and explore when we have have a few days instead of a few hours.

I took some pictures here. And Devon took a TON of way more beautiful pictures that he’ll post on Digitalsanctuary, hopefully soon.
