Fifi has a plump pink tongue, a massive dewlap and the sharpest little teeth ever.
I snapped this amazingly adorable picture of Fifi this morning in my car. We got to her vet appointment early and so I let her out of her cage to sun herself on the dashboard. She got super comfy and and sleepy apparently andended up yawning while I had my camera out.
Cutest picture ever aside, mostly good news from the vet. We took her in for an x-ray because she passed another rock this week along with a peanut shell, and he tummy has been extra bulgy recently, so we wanted to see if there was anything else bad in her tummy. The x-ray only showed large fat reserves. I’ve always read that you can’t over feed an iguana, but Fifi has shown that you can. Apparently winter squashes are the most fattening part of her diet.
We’ve been advised to increase her percentage of greens and make her exercize more… You try telling that to a super lazy iguana. Devon suggested getting her a miniature treadmill.
So yeah. We officially have an iguana with the world’s rarest iguana medical problems. She’s 3 legged, has heart disease and now she’s overweight. She deserves a medal.
That pic is adorable!
Idea 1: I think it’s time to begin work on the children’s picture book of care/feeding/adoption of sick/injured pets…
Idea 2: 20 small prints needed immediately for your new line of lizard cards…captions like: “You’re HOW old?!?!”…..would be appropriate…
*great* picture! Seriously seriously great picture. Wow.
Rude vet, telling Fifi she’s fat.
Telgator- I love the “you’re how old?” card idea!!
MB- Thanks.. Fifi doesnt yawn that much, but everytime i see it, i totally wish i had a camera. It makes me happy to share her adorable yawns.
Mum- ha! Yeah, Next think I know, Fifi will be demanding liposuction or something.
Don’t forget that she’s probably also a rare mixed breed Iquana with part of that blue-guana in her?
I think it’s time to write the “The Adventures of Fifi the Iguana” children’s book!!!!
[...] I think it’s a really great idea. I’ve actually thought about doing the same kind of thing…. Having great photos of all sorts of animals and/or pets that overcame all sorts of obstacles and live normal-happy lives and then having a page or two telling their stories. So I’ll chat further with her tomorrow…. We’ll see if she can make Fifi pose. Although I really think that the best photos that I’ve taken of the Fif-ster have been random or lucky. Like this one especially…. [...]
Good Site!…
Great website you have. Keep up the good work and good luck
