I need to warn people about a scam I encountered the other day.
Devon and I were coming out of our local grocery store the other day, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a girl with her mom who had a table set up and were selling orange boxes of stuff. So immediately I squeal “Its girl scout cookie time”, and veer towards them. They had 3 different types, however they weren’t cookies, they were chocolates.. BUt they had a squiggley logo on them, so I naively assume this girl’s troop just decided to go with selling chocolates this year…. I had really been craving samoas (The cookies with coconut and caramel), but I had to settle for a box of almond/caramel clusters covered in chocolate. Whatever. I pay the little girl $5, and she and her mom and very sweet through out the whole transaction.
Anyways. I skip away to catch up with Devon, and say something like “I bet you’re jealous of my Girl scout cookies, arn’t you?”. He then leaned in towards me and whispered “Those were Campfire girls…. Not Girl scouts.”. I then proceeded to feel like the world’s hugest ass.
But come on… Don’t you notice a similarity between the two?
and
?
Anyways. Just watch out for those girls in front of the grocery stores. They may not be who you think they are…
They are SO sneaky. Like ninjas….
Uh oh, according to wikipedia, the campfire girls were founded in 1910, and the girl scouts didn’t appear until 1912, so it looks like it’s the Girl Scouts that are the sneaky fakes….
Hmmm. I reject your wikipedia information and substitute my own.
And unless they tried to pretend that they were Girl Scouts, I don’t think that you can call them scam artists!
