New airline restrictions.

Thanks to some new “Death to America” terrorists in England that were caught on an America bound flight with gel explosives in Gatorade bottles, there are now some new security measures in place.

“The Transportation Security Administration issued new rules banning nearly all liquids, including beverages, lotions and hair gels…

British airlines went even further, banning all carry-on luggage except for keys, wallets, glasses and other essentials. Medications and baby formula are being allowed.”

American airports are recommending that passengers arrive 3 hours early, to allow time for the new security screening procedures.

Kill me now. On the upside I don’t have to check my electronics like my cell phone or computer. I can just imagine how busted up my iBook would be if i had to put it in my checked luggage. The baggage handlers throw those things so hard that they’ve bent the metal frame thats in my suitcase.

On the downside, I now have to put my hair products in my checked bags, which will inevitably end up leaking through 2 ziplocked bags, all through my clothes. I’m still unclear as to if I can carry on my lip-balm, or not. If I do have to check it and go with dry chapped lips for hours, I assure you, there will be hell to pay.

But yeah. These incompetent terrorists are pissing me off.

I’m writing this from the Austin airport and had no problems today at security. However, I ran out of toothpaste this morning and left my hair gel and deodorant in the hotel room. Someone said “oh, this will just be a temporary thing and we’ll be back to normal in a couple weeks”. I then reminded them that Richard Reid was arrested like 4 years ago for trying to burn his sneakers and I still have to take my shoes off every time I go through security.

I’m with you Emma…these incompetent morons are pissing me off too!

Oh interesting. I’m glad that you didn’t have a problem. I’m really hoping that it will be a similar situation for devon and I when we fly to colorado next week. If there are 3 hour lines, it could turn a 3 hour travel situation into a 6 hour ordeal.

I dunno…I have heard that they are confiscating lip stick/gloss, eye drops, makeup, and all sorts of things at Logan. I have to fly next week and I pretty much have to empty my purse of : 2 tubes of lip gloss, tube of concealer, and eye drops. Yay for dry lips and contact lenses! Maybe I should just wear my glasses.

P.S. They better at least up the amount of times they bring the drink cart around since you’re not even allowed to bring a bottle of water on baord anymore!!

    I haven’t gotten any messages…yet. ?? :(

Kristin- could you get a letter from your eye doctor re: the eye drops? They might let you bring those on the plane if you have a doctor’s note. Probably not, though.

Latest I saw was you can take lipstick if it’s not liquid-y – ie lipstick not lip gloss.
