My zombie ship photos.

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

I finally uploaded my photos from our “zombie ship” excursion. Unfortunately I forgot to turn off my camera half-way through our hike, so I don’t have any shots of the actual beached ship… However, I did manage to capture a few shots of my rock/seawall scaling chic outfit. :) Good times.

Check out the album & captions by clicking on the photo.

It was impossible to see very far in front of us when we started.

Investigation: Old Abandoned Ship

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Yesterday Devon and I investigated the old abandoned ship that i mentioned here.

When we arrived to the nearest mapped point to the ship, Possession Lane, the area was engulfed in fog, although the rest of the area was having a bright and sunny day. We passed lots of signs reminding us to get back to our cars before dusk. We found an crazy man made structure built out of seaweed and drift wood. There was no road, path, or beach for that matter, so for a mile we climbed over massive sharp rocks covered in barnacles and slime, bordered on one side by the icy water and on the other by a frequently used pair of train tracks. (btw, my sneakers proved useless, so I leapt boulders in my socks.)

When we finally arrived at the shipwreck we were greeted by “no tresspassing” signs and an unfriendly couple…(although they were friendly enough to let Devon snap a few photos of the ship from a distance, instead of shooting us).

On the long way back we saw a seal splashing around in the water, and a blue heron (which is a beautifully-majestic looking bird that makes the most ridiculous honking noise… whatever made them must have had a good sense of humor).

But yeah. It was an awesome date/day spent running for our lives. :) Devon made an awesome photo-journalistic entry about it here. :) Also, I took a couple of goofy looking photos that I’ll post when my camera re-charges and i can transfer & upload my pics.

I’m in Vancouver… Until Wednesday.

I kinda love this place. Lots of culture. Beautiful people. Good company. A beautiful and clean city.

I kinda hate this place. The people are way too beautiful. (Clothing stores should have a size range beyond XX-Small and Medium. I’m not even kidding. Ever see that Chris Farley SNL skit with him saying “fat man in a little coat? Yeah, that’s how i look when i try on anything here.) Also the city appears way fashionable than Seattle. (It makes Sea-town look like a bunch of ungroomed-sweatpants wearing-uncultured bums.) In addition, people look at me like I’m crazy/a loser when I ask them where my other boyfriend (the dreadlocked hottie, Jason Momoa from Stargate Atlantis) is filming/living/hanging out/sleeping. Whatever. Like I’M the loser!
Please. Just remember which of us is living in Canadia. ;)

So yeah. I’ll be back in a couple of days.

Rockabilly @ T.T. the Bear’s Place

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

This past Saturday, my friend Erick and I were wandering around downtown Boston, bored and wondering what to do. We headed over to Central Sq. to check out if there was any good music going on. We ended up at T.T. The Bear’s Place where a rockabilly show was starting.

Interesting thing about the Boston music scene. You always see people that you know, or at least I do. Erick saw one of his friends who played in a band that Erick’s old band used to play with, and we saw a girl that we used to hang out with at Copley Sq Park when we were into punk rock (and who also dated my high school boyfriend John, before i did), back in high school. It was pretty crazy to see people that I know randomly, when i haven’t lived in Boston for over 4 years.

Anyways, on to the actual show. We caught the tail end of Johnny Carlevale & His Band of All-Stars. They were the band that drew us in off the street. Pretty good. Next was The Bourbonaires. I think they were my favorite band of the night. They had a great front man who was a great performer and singing himself raw. Then The Raging Teens came on. I really enjoyed them. The guy playing stand up bass was awesome. And finally The Racketeers played. They were pretty enjoyable as well.

Entry into the venue was $10. Not bad for 4 bands on a Saturday night. Drinks are reasonably priced. The rockabilly girls were dressed to the nines which is always fun to look at; their rolled hair decorated with flowers and their retro outfits. Downsides: No air conditioning. Only 1 stall in the ladies’ room, however that can lend itself to some interesting conversations while waiting in line. A 2 man bar fight broke out, which was kind of impressive since the music was so loud, I couldn’t hear anything that people were saying. No matter. It was broken up efficiently by the jacked bouncers. But really at a rock show, I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a fight.

But yeah. I had a great time! I love stopping by Central Square and checking out a random show whenever I’m in town.

A Jersey Wedding.

Hey gang!

I’m about to head off to the airport to catch a red-eye flight on Jetblue. I’m heading to the east coast for a week and a half: part to attend my cousin Vinnie’s wedding and part to see my family and friends in New England. I’m excited. Its supposedly 8 million degrees in Boston. Fifi would LOVE it. :)

See you all later!

Motorcycles & Alki.

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

On Saturday, Devon and I rode his Ducati down to Alki Beach in West Seattle with some of our friends.

Alki Beach, thanks to Ariss @ Flickr

Who knew that there was an actual beach in Seattle? It looks across Puget Sound towards downtown Seattle.. You can see the Space Needle in one direction and the Olympic Mountains in the other. There was a girls’ beach volleyball tournament going on while we were there. Lots of people sunbathing and everything… A real beach! :)

Oh! Also, Alki beach has its own mini Statue of Liberty… Kind of like the one I saw in Tokyo. Weird.

We got tasty snacks at the Alki Bakery and people watched for a while. We watched a guy *cough* tool *cough* drive up in a Ferrari and try to parallel park. It was terribly awkward. I think most guys who drive cars like that are trying way too hard to make up for something that they’re lacking: in personality or other regards.

Anyways. It was a really nice day. Nice to ride the motorcycle. (even if the highway is scary) Nice to discover a new place. Nice to hang out with friends.

I totally want to go back and bring my swimsuit some day this summer.

(Thanks to Ariss on Flickr for the photo)

Would your guy (or yourself) sleep with a guy?

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

This question was raised on one of the forums I frequent:

“Here is the scenario:

4 guys go on a golfing trip, but they can only get 1 hotel room. The hotel room has 2 queen sized beds. Do the guys suck it up and sleep in beds together, or are 2 of them sleeping on the floor?”

I asked Devon the question and he had a very definite answer that he seemed to feel very strongly about, which I’ll let him explain…

As for myself I have no problem sharing a bed with a girl or a guy on an overnight trip… Who cares if I end up drooling in my sleep or whatever? When my girls and i have overnight get-togethers in cramped quarters, one of us always ends up getting spooned by accident. It’s no biggie. It’s cost effective and I gain body heat that I’m totally lacking in….

But yeah, I’m just wondering about everyone else.

JavaOne and Napa.
