Snowing?!? Again???

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Its snowing in Seattle, for the 3rd time this year. What’s going on? Usually we only get 1 snow “storm” a year. It generally happens in January, we get 2 inches max, our power goes out for a day, and then the snow melts a day after that.

But it’s now the end of February and I’m looking out my window in seeing huge fluffy white flakes. The grass is white and it’s just beginning to stick on the pavement. Hopefully we get a decent amount and there will be kids sledding down our street later. And then I’ll bribe them to let me ride their sleds. :)

Registering for my gallery.

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Hey gang. So over the past few days 3 unique guests have commented in my photo gallery. I can guess at who they are, but I’m not sure who is who and its been confusing. So I’ve made it so you have to register to comment. It takes, like, 2 seconds to register, and I made it so you just have to confirm your e-mail, instead of waiting for me to approve you. You can register/login at the top right of the gallery page.

Go ahead, use a disposable 10minutemail.com address if you’re scared of me spamming you. :)

But yeah. I love it when people comment, and I love it even more when I can figure out who is commenting. Thank you!

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Movie Night #2

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Tonight is our 2nd movie night. We’ll be watching Desperado with Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek, and eating Mexican food, and drinking margaritas… Lemur will be wearing his sombrero.

I’m really looking forward to Devon’s sopapillas. Although when I looked them up on wikipedia I found out that they are actually from New Mexico and unheard of in Mexico , which may explain why we never find any decent ones in any Mexican restaurants.

I’ll be sure to give a recap afterwards.

Jet Blue contests all week.

Monday, February 12th, 2007

This week in honor of Jet Blue’s 7th anniversary, my favorite airline is giving away 7 daily prizes all week. Today’s prize is a La-z Boy and a 52 inch HD flat screen Tv. Tomorrow is a free trip for 2 to Las Vegas.

All you need is to be a member of their frequent flyer program (which you should be anyways, if you live in or near a city they they fly to…). If you aren’t a member yet, it takes about 2 minute to sign up for it.

The best ice cream sandwiches in the world!

Monday, February 12th, 2007
Ruby Jewel Treats ice cream sandwiches
Ruby Jewel Treats

I found these at my fav local grocery store (Central Market) last week. Ruby Jewel is a small business in the northwest that started out selling their ice cream sandwiches at local Farmer’s Markets. Each ice cream sandwich is totally handmade. I munched on the Double Chocolate cookie with Peanut Butter ice cream, and it was totally amazing. They have a Lemon cookie with Honey Lavender ice cream flavor that also looks fabulous, along with 4 other flavors.

Each sandwich is around $3 and totally worth it. Unfortunately they’re only available in select stores in Washington and Oregon and one store in California. Although if you’re serious about your handmade ice cream sandwiches you can order a case of 16 sandwiches through their website.

Check out Ruby Jewel Treats here.

Girl scout cookie scam.

Friday, February 9th, 2007

I need to warn people about a scam I encountered the other day.

Devon and I were coming out of our local grocery store the other day, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a girl with her mom who had a table set up and were selling orange boxes of stuff. So immediately I squeal “Its girl scout cookie time”, and veer towards them. They had 3 different types, however they weren’t cookies, they were chocolates.. BUt they had a squiggley logo on them, so I naively assume this girl’s troop just decided to go with selling chocolates this year…. I had really been craving samoas (The cookies with coconut and caramel), but I had to settle for a box of almond/caramel clusters covered in chocolate. Whatever. I pay the little girl $5, and she and her mom and very sweet through out the whole transaction.

Anyways. I skip away to catch up with Devon, and say something like “I bet you’re jealous of my Girl scout cookies, arn’t you?”. He then leaned in towards me and whispered “Those were Campfire girls…. Not Girl scouts.”. I then proceeded to feel like the world’s hugest ass.

But come on… Don’t you notice a similarity between the two?
Camp Fire USA and The Girl Scouts ?

Anyways. Just watch out for those girls in front of the grocery stores. They may not be who you think they are… :)
